Threading Perfect brow shape is perfection for eyes and face. We take care & pride in shaping eyebrows perfectly as eyes are the focal point for the face. We have shaped eyebrows for some famous faces (See testimonies)! Threading is an ancient method of hair removal which originated in parts of India, the Middle and Far East, and is now gaining popularity in Western countries. It is as popular with men in Arabic countries as it is with women, though they still shave the beard part of their face with a traditional safety or straight razor, doing their ears and eyebrows with thread. It is also popular in Persian culture, and is called Bande Abru ("Abru" means eyebrow, and "Band" is the thread). Threading the entire face is widely spread amongst Iranians, but it was originally practiced when a woman was getting married or during special occasions. In ancient Persia, threading was an indicator of a girl turning to adulthood, becoming a woman. Thin, twisted cotton threads are rolled over untidy hairlines, upper lips and so on, plucking the offending hair. Practitioners use a pure cotton thread. They generally twist the hair and threading pulls out a whole row of hair, as opposed to tweezing where only one single hair is pulled out. Threading is often preferred to tweezing because of the naturally straight lines of hair removed by the thread. It is pulled out from the follicle. Some women focus particularly on the area between the eyebrows, thus interrupting so-called "unibrows". Like other methods of hair removal such as plucking or waxing, threading can result in skin irritation and ingrown hairs, however, hair re-growth becomes finer and more sparse after regular treatments. As the top layers of skin are not peeled or traumatized, threading is also recommended and an excellent option for those who have sensitive skin and who use Retin-A, Accutane, and similar products
Welcome to my complete guide to hair threading. Perfect eyebrows form an important component of a beautiful face – the most coveted eyebrow shape is beginning directly above the inner corner of the eye, peaking at its highest point above the outer corner of the iris before tapering off to the end in a rounded bow shape. Threading is an ancient method of hair removal used to give clean lines and good shape to the eyebrows and hairs on the face. A threading session usually takes between 20 to 30 minutes (depending on the area of course). A standard hair threading session will usually involve the following steps. - At the start of your threading session, therapist will begin with approximately 2 feet of cotton sewing thread. You will then take one end of the thread in her mouth and twist it to create a loop, wind the thread several times until it resembles a bow tie/infinity loop.
- Before your threading session, client’s skinis prepared by wiping the area with a cotton ball soaked in astringent. This will produce a cooling effect that numbs the skin causing you to feel less pain.
- Hair is pulled from opposite direction of growth to extract it from the roots, using appropriate side of the loop.
- Threading can cause skin irritation and ingrowth hairs so apply soothing lotion after threading. Soothing lotion usually contains aloe vera and chamomile. Regular exfoliation 5 days after threading or day before threading, also helps to remove dead skin and avoid ingrown hairs.
- To avoid skin irritation, client has to avoid treatments with heat sources (such as saunas, steam rooms, sun and heavy exercise) and exfoliating products (such as AHAs and scrubs and loofas)..
Here are some points for you to consider when choosing whether or not to have your hair threaded instead of waxed or plucked. - The advantage of threading over tweezing is that threading removes naturally straight lines of hair. The pulling of hair is smooth and natural, which is less painful compared to waxing.
- Another advantage of hair threading is that the top layers of skin are not peeled or traumatized, as it does with waxing. Therefore, threading does not cause break outs, redness, in-grown hair or pigmentation. Hence it is recommended for people with sensitive skin.
- Waxing can peel or burn the top layer of facial skin, which can lead to ingrown hair, skin loosening and wrinkles.
- As a new thread is used at every treatment, hair threading is a hygienic procedure.
- Threading, like plucking or waxing, can cause skin irritation, but most clients find it is less comparatively. Also, regular threading treatments cause hair re-growth to be finer and sparser leading to reduced skin irritation
Hair threading usually lasts 2-5 weeks. Due to less side effects and safety, threading can be done as often as every week, depending on client’s need. Compare this to waxing where you may have to wait 4-6 weeks for your hair to grow back. "No one could shape my eyebrows like Kiran at The Retreat, I have followed her every where.. " Edwina
